I saw a full-page ad for "Snow" by Michael Rappaport in a
music magazine today. It looks like it is probably either
kinda cool or really gimmicky and terrible. Has anyone read
it?
Here's the book's description:
Set in the underground dance culture of modern Los Angeles,
Snow is a dark, brooding fairytale of a techno-drenched,
da-glo world gone wrong for its hero and heroine - the
shellshocked, opium-addicted private eye and the pale,
strangely familiar dark-haired girl he follows through a
world of clubs, coffeehouses, strip bars and raves. Something
in her is linked to a past he feels but cannot remember.
Slowly he begins to uncover the mystery... But sometimes old
stories are better left unknown. Part Snow White, part
hardboiled detective novel, all trance-inducing
hyperliterature, Snow is a densely atmospheric novel of
hypnotic rhythms, ultravivid images and droning ambient
moods.
