Kinsey Millhone is certainly not hardboiled. The only one of the others I've read about is V.I. Warshawski, and I didn't think she was much either. Every now and then a debate breaks out about women writers and being hardboiled, and of the names on there, I think only Marcia Muller gets mentioned.

I believe that most female mystery fans who like to read mysteries by women have a very different definition of what fits into hardboiled than the average listmember (man or woman).
