RARA-AVIS: Influences?

I don't know much about influences, but the one writer who seems to get mentioned a lot by some of the old paperback guys is F. Scott Fitzgerald. They all love THE GREAT GATSBY. Harry Whittington also once said that he'd read a lot of Faulkner.
