RARA-AVIS: RE: Jackson etc

I've just read Jackson's Deadman and it certainly is a page turner for a procedural. However, I followed it up with Les Robert's 'Infinite number of Monkeys' and regard him as somewhat superior in the Chandler mould. What struck me about the latter were certain resemblances to Robert Crais's novels (two P.I's as buddies, ex-vets etc) . Since Roberts is now set in Detriot, I suppose the change of turf doesn't matter. Jim S.
