Tim Oliver takes exception to my description of legendary frontier peace officer Elfego Baca as being
"of 'Mexican descent'" because "He was born in New Mexico Territory, USA."

I was born in California, but I'm of Irish descent. Being described as of
"(fill-in ethnic background) descent" isn't meant to describe one's
birthplace but the place of one's ethnic origins.
