Carl Ramm is one of two pseudonyms used early in his career by Randy Wayne White, author of the Doc Ford novels, and columnist for OUTSIDE and MEN'S HEALTH magazines. His other pseudonym was Randy Stryker. The Stryker books feature an action hero named MacMurphy, I believe, and the Ramm hero is -- again, I think -- Hawker. I've never read either, but a friend who has read all of them claims that they are better written than most examples of the quickie actionfest genre. He thinks that the Stryker series is a bit better than that as by Ramm. Both are starting to gain momentum as collectibles.

Randy Wayne White is the author of SANIBEL FLATS, THE HEAT ISLANDS, THE MAN WHO INVENTED FLORIDA, CAPTIVA, NORTH OF HAVANA and THE MANGROVE COAST. The 7th Doc Ford, ONE THOUSAND ISLANDS is due out in May or June. A former fishing guide, White lives on Pine Island, near Fort Myers, FL. He's kind of a cult figure down here in the Kingdom of Y'All. I've met him a few times and he's a hell of a nice guy. His first three books command obscenely high prices from collectors.

He's going to be signing the new one at the store I'm affiliated with, but we haven't nailed down the date yet. Any interested parties can contact me off-list and I'll forward info when available. pabergin@gte.net PB
