Chester Himes could be hilariously absurd. I recently reread _All Shot Up_, which is chock full of memorable absurd scenes, among them, a guy whose headless body continues riding his motorcycle. On seeing him go by, a truck driver passes out and, well, you should read this book.

Another great comic writer is Norbert Davis, of whom I've spoken too many times already in this forum. The dialogue in his masterpiece, _The Mouse in the Mountain_, is pure surrealism.
