It's true that William P. (Bill) McGivern wrote THE BIG HEAT and ODDS AGAINST TOMORROW (+ three hardboiled eggs), but it's also true, as Bill Denton pointed out, that he was married to Maureen Daly, author of SEVENTEENTH SUMMER, a teen romance (- three hardboiled eggs) that sold and sold and sold and sold. It may still be selling, even now that McGivern's books are found only in the used-book stores.
