It's not hard-boiled, though I guess it could be called noir.
Certainly it recalls Woolrich, but it's much more tightly plotted
than Woolrich usually was. Westlake may overstate the case a bit,
but *The Red Right Hand* is one helluva read. I'd recommened it.
Since it's been through many reprintings (including a couple of
"classic mystery novels' series), it shouldn't be hard to find. -
