As a daily reader of the WSJ I have encountered Nolan's
writing, which
is quite fine and focused. I should also say that the WSJ has
the best
editors in the business, who can make anyone sound good --
but this is
off-topic. I look forward to Nolan's book on Ross Macdonald.
Despite a
slight disillusionment with his work, I still reread
Macdonald --
whatever reservations I may have afterwards (a feeling of
being taken
for the same old ride), it's a pleasure while it's happening.
Maybe this
is not a bad thing.
Regards,
mt
