I recently re-read three Edward S. Aarons novels. One thing
he did superbly was describe the settings of his books. It's
almost as if he had actually been to all the exotic places he
wrote about. (Maybe he had.) There's no levity in the books
at all; some might see that as a drawback. Someone told me at
Bouchercon that years ago Mickey Spillane was asked in an
interview who he liked to read. His answer was Edward S.
Aarons.
