Fred was nominated for a CWA award - short list of 3 - but was pipped
at the post on Sat night at the "Dead On Deansagte" 'nosebag'
by a wonderful book called "Garnethill" by Denise Mina. Its about an
ex-psychraitric patient who finds her boyfreind daed one morning.
Becoming a suspect herself she sets out to investigate and anither
body turns up.
In between listening to Mina at a 'new kids on the block panel' and
getting a kiss off her after I congratulated her that night (what
alovely person!) I read the first chapter. Amazing and well worth
keeping an eye out for. Pub by Bantham Press ISDN 0593043510.
Get it whilst its still new!!
And clearly my recommendations count for something:
>Again, due to traffic on the list--mainly Pete Walker--I got (ie bought
>& paid for) a copy of a Bary Gifford compilation, which includes _Wild
>at Heart_ (Sailor & Lula). Brilliant stuff--very down-beat, very
>low-key
Wonderful stuff indeed and I'm glsad you liked it, our Ed. Are you
sure it was me who recommended it??
