certainly violent, perverse and written at street level, even if it
doesn't have a lot in common with most of the genre.

Which reminds me... I can't remember if I've mentioned this on this
list before (That's happening a lot lately)... but Esquire Magazine
had Jean Genet, William S. Burroughs and Terry Southern cover
the 1968 DemocraticConvention / Riots in Chicago. The coverage
was unusual.
