RARA-AVIS: The Long Good-bye

Debbie Chilson (dlchilson@hotmail.com)
Tue, 13 Oct 1998 09:14:52 EDT I just got finished reading "The Long Good-bye" and have a question that
is gnawing on my brain. Why did Eileen Wade kill her husband (Roger)?
I know she confessed to murdering Sylvia and Roger both, and I
understood why she would kill Sylvia. Roger's death, however, has me
baffled. Was it just because she had gone slightly insane, or because
she feared he would remember something from his drunken blackout and
realize that she had done the killing? As I was under the impression
that Roger believed himself to be the murderer (if, in fact, he
remembered more than vague visions), I did not understand her reasoning
in kiling him. Can someone please shed light on this for me?
