RARA-AVIS: TV Words of Wisdom...

Just in case you're worrying about the mystery genre turning cozy, cozy,
cozy, here's a little word of nasty wisdom I heard last night on mainstream
American television:

"The only thing I like better than killing women is cats...I don't even
charge for them..."

-Mr. Chapel (Michael Madsen), on Vengeance Unlimited last night, pretending
to be a psychotic hitman, and simultaneously hospitalizing thousands of
cozy lovers around the world.

Has anyone else caught this yet? Chapel plays this mysterious guy who goes
around righting wrongs, a sort of Equalizer who enjoys his work a bit too
much. There's a real giddy sense of noir on this one. The only mystery is
why it's on at eight o'clock. They should put it on at ten and pull out the
stops...

Oh, and Happy Thanksgiving too, Bill...
