<<Ellroy has never been accused of modesty. As a matter
of fact, he
went on to impugn Clinton's taste for preferring Mosley to
himself,
dismissing Clinton's endorsement of Mosley as politically
motivated (for
which a good argument could probably be made, regardless of
Mosley's
talent). Still, I have to ask why this must be a mutually
exclusive
choice, can't you like both authors?>>
It's quite possible that Clinton simply likes Mosley. This
airing of
Ellroy's professional jealousies in public strikes me as
sub-adult (and
uncharacteristic of mystery writers, at least in my
experience). I guess
it's Ellroy against everybody else (or a parody thereof,
since the man
has a very peculiar sense of humor).
