RARA-AVIS: Sallis

Tue, 8 Sep 1998 21:11:21 -0700 My, Clancy stirred up more discussion than most and he's not even
hard-boiled. Or maybe he is. I'd ask but I don't want to add fuel to the
fire.

I've been off on vacation doing mostly Indian things and it's been a
pleasure to catch up on all of the messages since we left in early August.
In Missoula, Montana I picked up a copy of James Sallis's BLACK HORNET and
found it to be one of the most interesting books I had read in a long time.
Now I'm keeping my eyes peeled for his other two books, though I read
recently that they are considerably different than Hornet. Anyway, I'd
recommend highly at least that title. In another two days I'm off on
another jaunt to Glacier Park and Yellowstone before the snows set in. Wish
I had one of Sallis's other titles to take with me.

Does anyone know how old Sallis is? I've been helping a friend in a small
bookstore and was inputting SF anthology titles into a data base for selling
on the internet. One with a date of 1969 had a Sallis story in it, so he's
been around for a while.

Enough,
Frank D.
