I'd love to see a list of overlooked gems, rather than another list of the
same old recommended books. Whenever you see a list of the "100 Greatest
Movies," there's CITIZEN KANE (which I found slow and unbearable--forget all
the stylish camera angles). Same goes for crime fiction...there are Hammett,
Chandler, etc. (which I find slow and unbearable). Why not a list of
overlooked gems? I'm always looking for books to add to my want list.

Here's a list of great books you won't necessarily see on a "Top Crime Novels
of All Time" list:
1. Big Man by Richard Marsten (Ed MCBain)
2. Black Wings Has My Angel by Elliott Chaze
3. Dead City by Shane Stevens
4. The Hunter by Richard Stark
5. The Name of the Game is Death by Dan J Marlowe
6. The Best from Manhunt edited by Scott Meredith
7. Box Nine by Jack O'Connell
8. April Evil by JD MacDonald
9. Stolen Away by Max Collins
10. Murder Me For Nickels by Peter Rabe

By the way, I mostly just lurk around here, but I enjoy all the discussions.
Thanks for letting me in on the fun!
