I was going to suggest that Get Carter (aka Jack's Return Home)
be our
first non-US book, but it seems to be out of print in the
states. It
does, however, seem to be in print in the UK (Alison and
Busby). Are
the US readers willing to go to the trouble of getting an
import? You'd
have until October, that should be enough time. It really is a
great
book.
Even if you don't get the book, though, see the movie. It's
called Get
Carter (hence the title change on the book) and stars Michael
Caine at
his best.
