Thu, 21 May 1998 10:04:27 -0500 Hi, guys, I'm trying to track down some info on a character called Joe
Jenkins, American Detective, who was evidently featured in a string of
Danish-, or possibly German-produced films way back in the 1920's or maybe
even earlier.

An American named Leon Rains played Joe Jenkins. The production company was
called Aarhus. At sometime, Rain had migrated to Germany, where was a
popular performer of opera from 1899 to about 1917, before turning to film.

I'm not sure if this was a character created for film, or whether he was
originally a character in books or short stories, or even if he was
hardboiled or not, but if anyone has any info, please feel free to contact
me directly at mailto:kvnsmith@colba.net . Once I collate enough info, if
it's relevant to this list, I'll tell you what I've found out.
