RARA-AVIS: Michael Collins

Jiro Kimura (jkimura@nsknet.or.jp)
Wed, 29 Oct 1997 01:38:13 +0900 Okay, Michael Collins is finishing up his latest thriller. His previous
novel is THE CADILLAC COWBOY (Fine, 1995), non-Fortune thriller. The last
Fortune novel so far is CASANDRA IN RED (Fine, 1992) and CRIME, PUNISHEMENT
AND RESURRECTION (Fine, 1992) is a short story collection about Fortune.
The non-genre story collection Doug Greene was talking about is TALKING TO
THE WORLD (John Daniel, Inc., 1995).

These days, you can meet Dan Fortune in short fiction as follows:
"A Death in MOntecito" in Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine, April 1995
"A Matter of Character" in PARTNERS IN CRIME (Signet, 1994)
"Culture Clash" in EQMM, November 1994
"Angel Euyes" in DEADLY ALLIES 2 (Doubleday, 1994)
and others.

I heard he will have one of his stories in some anthology to be out this
year. Did I say that I have translated five of the Dan Fortune novels into
Japanese?

I am sorry to say that I am NOT going to the Monterey Bouchercon, where
Michael Collins, Joe Gores and many many so-called "hardboiled" writers
will attend. Doug, have fun.
