RARA-AVIS: Talmage Powell

DOUGLAS GREENE (dgreene@odu.edu)
Thu, 23 Oct 1997 09:38:24 EST Talmage Powell is a fine writer. His only short story collection is Written for Hitchcock, Twenty-Five Twisted Tales of Revenge and
Intrigue. Nashville: Rutledge Hill Press, 1989. It may still be
in print. If so, order it. If it isn't, see if copies are on the
web. Well worth it.

Powell did a lot of pulp stories in the 40's, then wrote for the digests,
becoming one of the mainstays of AHMM. He also ghosted 2 or 3 of the
paperback originals by "Ellery Queen," and wrote some find private
eye stories featuring, I believe, Ed Rivers, as paperback originals.
