More bad news, but this time it's right out of my
hands.
I'm on the board of iComm, an Internet Community
Project
(www.icomm.ca). Since I'm a sys admin there too, and run
Majordomo, I
set up my own list - RARA-AVIS. iComm gets connectivity from
Vex
(www.vex.net), and Vex gets connectivity from
E>Connect
(www.econnect.ca). E>Connect has been in serious financial
troubles
lately, and I just got warning that it's in receivership and
will be
shutting down at 6 p.m. EDT today. iComm, and Vex, will still
be
working fine, except we won't be able to get out and nobody
will be
able to get in.
I'm told by Vex that they and other ISPs who use E>Connect
are doing
all they can to find an alternate provider, and I don't think
they'll
be down too long - perhaps a couple of days. It's annoying
for all of
us, but I expect it will be a fairly minor blip.
I'll send out a message as soon as the list is back.
Bill
P.S. If you happen to know anybody at lglobal.com, trends.ca
or
passport.ca, don't expect to hear from them for a while
either.
