RARA-AVIS: Elliot Ness bio

Wed, 30 Jul 97 11:02:50 -0500 If you're like me and you enjoyed the atmosphere of the 30's Midwest
established by Max Allen Collins, you might enjoy this notice that
appeared on a library list today. We just received the biography in
question, though I've not read it yet. Guess this will only help viewers
in the U.S., though I don't know to what extent these A&E programs appear
in other countries.

Tonight's the night!

Tonight (Wednesday, July 30), Knox Books author Paul W. Heimel ("Eliot =
Ness: The Real Story") will appear on the A&E "Biography" program, entitl=
ed "Eliot Ness: Untouchable." This will be airing at 8:00 p.m. and again =
at midnight Eastern Time. In conjunction with this appearance, our public=
ity consultant sent out hundreds of press releases, personal letters, etc=
., encouraging librarians, newspapers, magazines, radio stations and TV =
stations across the nation to spotlight this program, which has such impo=
rtant educational potential (as does the book, ISBN 096558240X).

There has also been scattered publicity nationwide about the Eliot Ness =
Memorial Service, to be held Sept. 10 in Cleveland, at which time Paul =
HeimeI will have the honor of presenting the eulogy for this famous crime=
fighter as his cremains are finally laid to rest.

If any ListMates come across newspaper articles or any other mention of =
these two significant events, would you please contact me or Paul at one =
of the numbers shown below? My personal thanks are extended to the numero=
us ListMates who have been so supportive and helpful as Knox Books tries =
to increase awareness of the "real" Eliot Ness and erase the damage that =
Hollywood has done to this man's legacy. We will be looking for ways to =
reciprocate.
